Let's get to know Victoria of Serum No. 5!
How did you choose your brand name?
I struggled coming up with my brand name. I didn't want anything that specifically mentioned "polish" or "cosmetics" in case I ever decided to expand. Since giving back was, and continues to be, a part of my brand, I chose Serum as something to signify a potion or elixir for ailments and the first initial of my name (V) just happens to be 5 in Roman numerals. Putting that together, Serum No. 5.
What's your all time favorite polish/collection that you created? Non polish makers: your favorite product?
My absolute favorite polish has to be one of my first ones: Day Glow. It's what launched Serum.
What was the very first polish you made and sold? Non polish makers: your first product?
I came out with a collection of polishes and you can tell it was a starter collection lol. But Day Glow was a part of that and still being sold today.
Is your business full time? If not, what’s your other job?
Part-time for Serum. My regular job is an attorney/business development.
Besides nail polish/handmade, what are your others interests?
Planners! I'm a nerd at heart and even have a handmade sticker shop.
Do you have a dedicated space for creating?
Do you feel like you have to strike a balance between what you personally like and what you think will sell? How do you walk that balance?
Sometimes I do. It's hard to be in the industry for so long and constantly chase what's hot and trending. I'm pretty sure Serum is still a new brand to many because there are just so many great brands out there now. It's hard to compete. In the end, I try to make what I like and hope others do, too.
If you could design a polish for any celebrity, who would it be and why? What color/type of polish? Non polish makers: what kind of product?
I'd love to do something for Zooey Deschanel. No idea what it would be, but I feel like we'd have fun collaborating.

What is your favorite item to shop for from the pickups?
